Finally, we're staying put for a little bit. We arrived in Nelson this afternoon. It seems like a fantastic place- the biggest city I've been to yet. Staying at Accents on the Park backpackers for the next four nights. It's nice. I'm sitting in bed right now, my top bunk in a triple decker bunk bed. There are seven of us in this small room. Two Germans, a Canadian, a Brit, and the Flynns. My mom is just chatting it up with everyone. She's such a social butterfly. Cool mom. What am I going to do here without you?
The drive today was the prettiest. The coastal stretch was amazing. We saw the pancake rocks at Punakaiki National Park. That was cooler than I expected. Fascinating rock formations. And we took the Truman Track to Truman's Beach- a beautiful beach with a strong tide and blow holes and perfectly smooth rocks. No sand, just tiny pebbles. It was beautiful. I might need to get a separate suitcase to send home with all the rocks I collect. They make great gifts for friends and family back home!
Speaking of.. I got to talk to Denney on FaceTime for a minute tonight. It's really nice to have that way to communicate with home. It made me feel not quite so far away. Thanks D.
It's supposed to be nice weather here the next few days. That will be good for the beach! I'm ready to just relax in the hot weather for a few days. It's been a rough week.. Just kidding. I'm not complaining. I love my life right now. Loving every minute of it. Sandfly bites and all.
