Kia Ora - Feb. 9 - 9:30 am

I'm here. Queenstown, New Zealand. Adventure Capital of the World, with the 2 most adventurous people I know: mom and dad. It was a long journey. I think you could count this as day four, or two? I'm not really sure with the time difference and all. But I do know that we spent well over 24 hours traveling to get here. Layovers, airport drama, the whole deal. I slept maybe 4 hours on the flight from LAX, uncomfortably. But I think I'm adjusting to the time difference just fine. It's strange to think I'm living in the future. Back home it's still February 8th and here it's the 9th. Almost a whole day different.
And to all those wondering, I can neither confirm nor deny the allegation that toilets in the Southern Hemisphere flush the opposite way. One: because I can't remember if they go clockwise or counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere. And two: all the toilets I've used have just flushed with a big burst of water coming straight into the bowl. No swirling required. I'll keep you posted if I find a normal toilet.
So yesterday, being our first day here, we took it easy. Driving and walking around the city. More beautiful than I can even describe, or that I could have ever imagined. The blue lake, with mountains coming straight out of the water. The green plants and trees everywhere. The sunshine and fresh summer air. The colorful homes and buildings scattered into the trees, that go halfway up the mountains. It's incredible. Lots of young people with accents. I don't think I've heard an American accent yet. It's a different world. Oh, and everything is expensive. About double what we pay at home. So if I come home earlier than planned, it's because I ran out of money..
Today we are going to hike to a waterfall. And we want to check out the farmers market down by the lake. I'm going to go bungy jumping at some point while I'm here, so stay tuned for that!
I love it here.
