March 2 - 1:45 pm

Oh boy, where do I begin. To sum it up in few words, I spent last night on the floor of an ex-Mormon convert lesbian after hanging out with her friends at a house party. Ok it was way less exciting than it sounds, but it sure was interesting. Nicest girl - Anya - just 20 years old from "the Utah of New Zealand" - (Hamilton, because of all the Mormons there). She met up with me around 6:30 and we walked to her house. It was about 20 minutes from the city center. We talked mostly about how random this was, and her asking me Mormon questions. She told me her thoughts on it, and tha she would be drinking at the party, and that she was gay. Just so I knew.. and I was fine. She offered to make us dinner, which was also fine by me! Saving money once again. We made stir fry, and that was a hoot because she is an awful multitasker and an experimental cook. It was undercooked rice fried with broccoli, carrots, an egg, canned salmon, and soy sauce. Weird. Would have been ok without the salmon, but I ate it anyway. We laughed through it all. Then we headed to her friend's party with her roommate. There she taught me the rules of party - like "don't sit down. If you sit down that means you've given up." And other good rules. Everyone was drinking, but it was just like any of the parties I've been to back home with my friends, except we don't drink. Anya and I actually talked for a long time at he party about religion and Mormons, and spirituality in general. She kept telling me how much she admired the way I live my life, and don't drink and stuff. And she actually told me that she hates that she drinks, but can't stop. She's trying to get back in touch with her spiritual side though. Really fun, funny, smart girl. I really liked hanging out with her. I might end up on her floor again tonight, but I'm not sure yet. Still trying to get in touch with the other guy down here.. We'll see.
Other than that, yesterday was a day full of exploring. Up and down Cuba street, Courtney Place, Oriental Beach, City Gallery, Te Papa gift shop - not yet ready to commit to the whole museum. And getting wifi there is the best. I'm here right now actually!
But it's weird to me, because yesterday was a Friday and it felt like a Saturday with the streets packed with people, parks, beach, shops all busy. I guess that's just everyday here.
Weather has been great, sunny all yesterday. Clouds just broke up this morning, so it's nice and sunny again today. Spectacular.

Today I have just been walking around the different outdoor markets. There's a big music festival here today - Homegrown - the reason the hostels were all full. So that's going on on the waterfront. But it's sold out. Still tons going on! Got a hair wrap! And mini donuts. I think they cut some of my hair. Oh well.
