Heading to bed early so I can get up early to catch the shuttle to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing trailhead. Pretty excited. That's why I'm here in this tiny town of National Park for the next two nights!
Everything went smoothly, getting from Wellington here. Ganesh dropped me off at the bus stop early this morning. Took five and a half hours on the very pretty road through the countryside and mountains. Beautiful.
There really isn't anything in the town, so I got here and just settled in at the hostel. It's a nice one. Almost nobody here though. My room is full, just with a young Swedish couple and a German woman. The Swedes are doing the alpine crossing tomorrow too. They seem pleasant.
I went to the gas station in town, which is also the food market, for a few groceries: bread, spaghetti sauce, apples, milk, and a Gatorade. The essentials.
I made spaghetti for dinner and it didn't taste too great actually. I think it was the sauce. "Not too good." But I am excited to have cereal for breakfast tomorrow! Probably have it for dinner too! Why not. I bought milk, so I might as well use it. Since there really wasn't much to see in town, I read quite a bit. Should be done with Dorian Gray pretty soon.
